M Family & Twins!!

I know its been quiet over here lately, but unfortunately I've entered my busiest time of the year and it's been an effort just to keep up with sessions and editing, let alone blogging!!  (Note to self: hire assistant for late August through late November next year).

That being said, in an effort to get sneak peeks up for all of my clients, there won't be alot of writing on the blog in the next few weeks, just pictures!!

Now for today's post!!

These gorgeous kiddos were born 13 WEEKS EARLY!  Seeing them now at a little over a year old, you'd never guess they were only 1 lb 12 oz and 2 lb 5 oz at birth!

Enjoy!!

Miracles

She sits on the floor and nurses her new baby.  From across the room I can see the scars on her chest as she recounts the story of C's delivery.  We then swap stories about late night feedings, this amazing thing called motherhood, and I finally work up the courage to ask her.

"Can I tell your story?"

She looks up and smiles, knowing what I'm referring to.  "Of course," she says, "that would be great."

On September 12th of this year, Kelly brought sweet little C into the world.  She lay in her hospital bed and marvelled at the miracle in the basinet next to her.  A miracle because on September 12th 2001, Kelly was in a different hospital room, recovering from her second lung biopsy and waiting to see if her cancer had relapsed.

At age 16, Kelly was diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  While other girls were stressing about their first kiss and what to wear to school, Kelly was suffering through 6 months of high dose chemo, losing up to 30 lbs off of her already small frame, going into Acute Renal Failure, suffering from sepsis and a collapsed lung among many, many other things.  When she found out that her cancer had, indeed, relapsed she was understandably devastated.

"The relapse was so much worse because I knew what I was getting into and I knew how incredibly sick I was going to be again"  Amazingly, she recieved a stem cell transplant and other than immune system problems, has been considered healthy since then.  Kelly was able to concieve naturally, (again, miraculous considering the incredible amounts of chemo she withstood), and now has a sweet, squishy baby girl to tell her story to one day.

Kelly, thank you for letting me tell your story, thank you for letting me be a part of such a special time in your life.  To my other readers, please visit any one of the links at the end of my post and consider making a small donation to cancer research and cancer awareness.  I am not above asking for your money, time or services if it means we can put an end to all types of cancer.  Kelly's story has a beautiful ending but the reality is there are many that don't.  I have amazing clients and amazing readers so I know you guys will do what you can!!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Now go enjoy this sweet ball of sleepiness!!

Jenna & Nishant: Manassas Engagement

These two lovelies drove all the way from Maryland for their engagement session just so I could shoot at a new location I discovered.  They were easy going, friendly and 100% in love - so yea, pretty much my ideal client!

I'm insanely excited for their wedding next June for two reasons: they've agreed to a first look (seeing each other before the ceremony so we can maximize time for pictures) AND they're having an abbreviated Hindu ceremony in addition to a traditional Western ceremony.  I can't wait to see the beautiful colors and traditions associated with Nishant's heritage!!

Jenna & Nishant, it was such a pleasure finally getting to meet you and getting you in front of my camera!  Enjoy your preview!!

How cute are these two?!?

Jenna and Nishant are huge Nationals fans, so we had to give a shout out to their team!

Save the date!!!

Three

Today you are three.
You are light as a feather and smart as a whip.
You are known as "Bug", shortened from Lacey-bug over the last 3 years.
Overnight you went from a sweet dark haired newborn to an independent, light haired little girl.  You love make up, dress up, princesses and all things pink.
Your baby sister joins us in December and we love asking you her name.  To date, we have: Soda, Santa, Aba, Chopper, Christine, Lacey and Tyler (?).
PS - I don't think your Mommy is naming your baby sister ANY of these names :)
You have an amazing memory.
You loooovvvvee to talk.
You are so incredible and I will work my hardest to make sure you always know this.
I am so, so proud of the amazing little 3 year old you've become and I hope you always know that no matter what your Aunt Heff loves you like crazy!

Happy Birthday Bug, I hope you get all the pink presents you could ever wish for!
